Born on a rainy day in October 1995, Ataberk was always interested in computers. In early years of school time, he went to LAN cafes to play with his friends and during high school years he started thinking, “What if I play the game I made with my friends, that would be a cool thing to do!” This idea pushed him towards designing games. Ambitious high schooler merged with his creative side and quickly he started to understand the concepts of the early game design process. He attended to his first game jam during this period, which is Global Game Jam 2013 Istanbul @BUG, he created his first ever finished game. Later that he continued to participate in other Game Jams such as Indies vs PewDiePie Game Jam and many other Global Game Jams. He attended to DePaul University as a Game Design major. Currently he is looking for a job where he can call home.

Snapshell is a company who is making interactive games for the gun ranges. People can play these games with their own guns in the shooting range setting, compete with each other and improve their aim.

Responsibilities:
  • Conceptualizing the game and it’s mechanics.
  • Coming up with the design of the game, mechanics and layout.
  • Implementing the layout that was designed concept to the Unity Engine.
  • Creating a multiple custom rail systems for the game to improve the variety and the game feel.
  • Throubleshooted the design flaws, playtested in a custom made place for further improvements and overall gamefeel.
  • Worked closely with other designers as well as the people from the gun range to deliver the best experience to the customers of the gun range.
  • Improvements on the previous designs and coming up with new designs.

Lead Level Designer
DePaul Originals Game Studio

September 2019 - March 2021, Chicago, IL

DePaul Originals is a game development studio that is located within DePaul University’s Loop campus. It’s focus is the production of high quality game experiences that are delivered on commercial platforms.

Responsibilities:
  • Managed a team of students that made the city level for the game from scratch in 10 weeks using a variety of tools such as Unreal Engine 4, Maya, Substance Painter, and Perforce.
  • Taught Unreal Engine 4 and Perforce to the attendees in the studio.
  • With old city level in mind, worked on complete overhaul and redesign for the city space of the game.
  • Worked on modeling, light, level sequencer, and story design of the level to increase the player engagement and keep the space more interesting.
  • Applied many different game design elements such as verticality and exposition, utilized different level design techniques throughout the creative vision of a Chicago inspired City level.
  • Troubleshooted blueprint errors in C++.
  • Playtested the game and gave feedback to the team for further improvements.
